Abbey marks 30 years on the road

Abbey has been celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
The firm has gone from a small road tanker business in Birkenhead, Merseyside, to one of the largest bulk liquid and powder road tanker companies in the UK today.
Brothers Steve, Charlie and Mark Lucy purchased a tanker business employing around 30 people in 1990 with its first depot in Abbey Close, Birkenhead - hence its original company name, Abbey Road Tanks.
Steve Granite, Abbey Logistics CEO, said: “Fast forward 30 years and we have more than 600 employees. Abbey is a leading operator in our chosen markets, we can count on well-known global manufacturers as loyal customers and we have a depot network across the country.
“Abbey has grown and matured in all sorts of ways and has achieved so much in a short space of time, of which we are incredibly proud.”
He added: “At our core, Abbey has always been about solving our customers’ most difficult problems. We throve on challenges, as it brings out the very best in us and gives us the opportunity to demonstrate how good we are. We add considerable value to our customers, take away their problems and make them more competitive in their own markets. This was in our DNA 30 years ago and it is still our key strength and why our customers stay with us and new ones join us.”
