British Sugar adds new tractor units to logistics fleet

UK logistics provider Abbey Logistics has announced that British Sugar has added 11 new tractor units to its logistics contract fleet, which went into service in December 2019.

The new vehicles are part of a wider fleet replacement scheme to replace older units with more efficient trucks, ensuring an efficient and reliable service for customers and a more comfortable working environment for drivers.

The trucks, which are manufactured by DAF, will distribute bulk liquid and powder sugar products across the UK on a 24/7 basis.

“Bulk road tanker logistics is a very specialist area and our ability to recruit and retain the very best drivers is crucial for us to deliver the highest levels of service to our customers,” commented Matthew Male, finance director at Abbey Logistics.

“Our fleet management team has sourced the most appropriate vehicles for our drivers and this critical contract. Collaborating with the customer to understand the requirements and address a number of challenges specific to this important contract, enabling us to future-proof this fleet.”
