Port of call for tank cleaning industry
Success
The company currently employs 200 people and, since 1980, has been working with global shipping and leasing companies and tank operators, on behalf of container terminals and for a variety of individual customers.
In recent years, HCCR has invested massively in digitalisation to streamline its business processes with a strong focus on transparency for customers within HCCR’s service chain.
HCCR’s services at the Container Depot Altenwerder Damm include the repair, cleaning and storage of all types of containers (dry, special, reefer and tank).
The company can boast to be a truly trimodal depot in the centre of the city as it offers a depot capacity of around 12,000 TEU, a separate rail connection with a track length of 720 metres (480 E) and a direct, internal access to the HHLA Container Terminal Burchardkai (CTB).
Its location is also in the immediate vicinity of the German north-south axis A7 (Waltershof junction) and the business is open every weekday from 5.30am to 10pm.
Operations
Here, HCCR operates a modern cleaning facility for the interior cleaning of tank containers and road tankers.
A spokesman said: “We offer almost all types of professional interior and exterior cleaning, even for sensitive areas such as dangerous goods, food or silo cleaning.
“In addition to minor repairs, our tank service also includes major damage repairs and modifications, which are offered on-site in cooperation with our partner Condaco. A wide range of regular inspections and certifications of tank equipment are carried out in our depot by qualified technicians.
“In addition, HCCR offers technical service for refrigerated containers, so-called reefers. As a certified service partner to the leading machinery manufacturers in this field, we carry out maintenance and warranty works and supply third-party customers with spare parts.
“Our refrigeration and air conditioning technology teams install and maintain stationary air conditioning systems in buildings, cold stores and on large equipment in port handling.”
The spokesman added: “In addition to repairing and modifying containers of all kinds, we manufacture special steel constructions, customer-specific conversions of containers and maintain all kinds of equipment used in container handling at the terminals, such as over height frames and trailers.
“Our container trading branch sells and rents out new and used sea and office containers including the on-demand positioning according to customers’ specific needs.”
HCCR’s other two sites are located at HHLA Container Terminals Altenwerder (CTA) and Tollerort (CTT), offering the same service as in its depot.
This enables customers to steer their sound containers precisely to their ship or to the hinterland connections without prior port transfers.
