news item image
Amid the ever-changing landscape of the Spanish industrial tank cleaning sector, the Asociación Nacional de Lavaderos de Interiores de Cisternas (ANLIC) has always distinguished itself through its steadfast dedication to excellence, environmental stewardship and the advancement of the industry.
ANLIC is the Spanish association of certified tank cleaning stations. It was established in 1997 to address the sector’s needs with the main goal of advising, assisting and encouraging its members to provide high-quality standards.
ANLIC is an active member of the European Federation of Tank Cleaning Organizations (EFTCO) and according to the Spanish organisation, this partnership facilitates a strong synergy between the national organisation and the European one. Its headquarters is located in Tarragona, Catalonia. Currently, the association has a total of 66 members, located throughout the Spanish territory.
Mission and vision
The association is celebrating its 27th anniversary this year. For over a quarter of a century, ANLIC has worked steadily to provide the required services to ensure compliance with European standards for tank cleaning stations. The board, along with external advisors, offers guidance and support in all relevant areas to every single member.
These tasks encompass, amongst others, management of cleaning documents, resolving queries and promoting the image of the association and its members through its website, LinkedIn and national and international magazines.
The organisation also frequently shares new information from EFTCO, attends biannual European meetings, organises annual Spanish meetings, handles applications and new member entries as well as collecting new SQAS evaluations from members.
To join ANLIC, high standards of quality, safety, environmental, security and corporate social responsibility are required. To assess these issues, the cleaning stations are evaluated by SQAS. ANLIC requires achieving an overall score of 65% and it also requires potential members to answer a series of mandatory questions that are set by the association. Since July 2023, ANLIC has received six new applications to join the organisation – three of which have already done so.
Latest news
This year, the Spanish tank cleaning stations organisation has undergone some substantial changes
1. Three new associates in 2024. ANLIC has welcomed three new organisations: Europea de Contenedores El Palmar (Murcia), Lavaderos Europa Esparreguera (Barcelona) and Lavadero Andújar (Jaén). According to ANLIC, these additions bring fresh perspectives and expertise to the association, enhancing its capacity to achieve its goals. However, despite these positive developments, the association has said farewell to two members whose contributions have been invaluable. Their departure represents a transition and ANLIC remains focused on future growth and excellence.
2. Re-election of Josep Cid as ANLIC president. This year’s elections to the board concluded with the re-election of the current president, Josep Cid, who will continue to lead the organisation. The newly elected board, guided by Cid’s experienced leadership, is poised to address the challenges ahead while upholding the high standards and goals of the organisation. The election results reflect the members’ confidence in the direction and management provided by the current leadership team.
3. Approaching the final phase of the amendment to the Real Decreto 948/2003 (Spanish royal ordinance). Since 2018, ANLIC board members and its external advisors have been working together to try to harmonise the various imbalances that currently exist in the Spanish Royal Decree 948/2003. This decree establishes the minimum conditions for the internal washing, degassing and depressurisation facilities, as well as for the repair or modification of tanks for dangerous goods. In June, the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism announced that the public hearing procedure for the Draft Royal Decree, which modifies Royal Decree 948/2003, is available on the Ministry’s website.
4. Good hygiene practices guide and HACCP application for food tank cleaning. The status of this guide is progressing well. Earlier in March, the Ministry presented its observations on the guide, and after making the necessary modifications, it was resubmitted in May. This revised guide aims to ensure that all cleaning processes adhere to the highest standards of hygiene and safety, providing a reliable framework for food industry compliance.
Future
ANLIC’s consistent performance in a volatile and uncertain environment highlights the dedication and hard work of all its members. Although stability might initially seem like a lack of progress, it is, in fact, a significant achievement.
It indicates that the association is upholding its standards and consistently meeting its goals. However, ANLIC remains committed to pursuing growth and improvement opportunities.
Members continuously explore ways to enhance their processes and strategies, striving for even better performances in the future. The organisation strongly supports them throughout this journey.
