The National Association of Interior Tank Washers, known globally as ANLIC, is Spain’s official organisation for certified tank cleaning stations. Founded in 1997, its primary aim is to support, advise and motivate its members to uphold high standards of service and safety.
The association is an active participant in the European Federation of Tank Cleaning Organisations (EFTCO), helping foster collaboration and shared goals between Spain and the broader European community.
Today, ANLIC proudly counts 66 members across Spain, all working together to improve the sector.
The organisation is based in Tarragona, Catalonia, serving as a hub for industry development and innovation.
Mission and vision
The association is celebrating its 28th anniversary this year.
Over that period, ANLIC has consistently delivered the services required to ensure that tank cleaning stations comply with strict European standards.
The board, along with external advisers, provides guidance, training and support across all key areas for each member.
Their responsibilities include managing cleaning documentation, answering queries, promoting the association and its members through the website, LinkedIn and both national and international magazines like Tank Cleaning, sharing updates from EFTCO, participating in biannual European meetings, organising annual gatherings in Spain, processing new membership applications, collecting SQAS evaluations and more.
To become a member of ANLIC, high standards in quality, safety, environmental care, security and corporate social responsibility are essential.
These are assessed through SQAS evaluations, where applicants must achieve at least 65% overall and meet mandatory criteria set by the organisation.
Since July 2024, ANLIC has received nine new applications - three have joined and three are currently under review.
New developments
This year, ANLIC is pleased to announce several key developments:
- Three new associates
ANLIC welcomes Lavado y Engrases Las Marías (Jaén), Limpiezas Industriales del Somontano (Huesca) and Rodi Metro (La Rioja) as new members. These additions bring fresh ideas and expertise to the association, enhancing its collective strength.
At the same time, the association said farewell to three longstanding members whose contributions have been invaluable.
Their departure marks a period of transition, but ANLIC remains focused on growth and continued excellence. - Renewal of ANLIC bylaws
This year, ANLIC has undertaken a significant update of its bylaws. This renewal reflects its commitment to adapting to the sector's evolving challenges and aims to strengthen the association's internal structure and objectives. ANLIC plans to initiate migration to the National Register of Associations (RNA) in the near future. - EFTCO meeting in Seville
On 15 May, ANLIC hosted the year’s first EFTCO meeting in Seville in collaboration with one of its members. The event included a cultural tour of the city, a traditional Spanish dinner and a flamenco performance.
During the meeting, the new EFTCO board was confirmed, including the election of Josep Cid from ANLIC, who will serve until 2027.
Key topics included the updated SQAS questionnaires, eECD implementation, combating ECD fraud, the launch of EFTCO’s new LinkedIn page (developed by ANLIC and ALCI) and the upcoming EFTCO brochure. - Improved ANLIC website
Following feedback, ANLIC enhanced its website’s search functionality for a better user experience. All member listings now feature consistent information fields and the new advanced search allows users to search by keyword or by specific criteria such as province, type of wash and certifications. - eECD cluster Tarragona–Barcelona
Although the electronic cleaning document (eECD) has existed for some time, uptake among shippers, carriers and cleaning stations has been limited.
To drive adoption, the non-profit ECLIC has developed a digital platform for eECD management, and the new eECD Cluster Tarragona–Barcelona has been launched to pilot implementation.
Two meetings have already taken place, with teams formed across shippers, carriers and ANLIC members. Three major shippers and four ANLIC members are involved, with the next meeting planned for September.
Future outlook
ANLIC’s steady performance in an ever-changing and unpredictable environment showcases the dedication and collective effort of its members.
The organisation is also ramping up its presence on modern media channels to better promote the progress needed in the industry.
The organisation remains fully committed to supporting its members as they continue refining their processes and strategies, paving the way for ongoing success.
