As H&P Freightways/Tankclean heads towards being 50-years-old in 2025, progress and innovation continues.
Being the largest independent tank cleaning and depot services provider in the UK, according to the business - it is essential to be ahead of the pack.
From the early days of having just one site and cleaning just a few tanks per day, the business has evolved in to five, soon to be six facilities across the UK cleaning over 150 tanks per day.
The business provides everything from a standard clean to more difficult operations, utilising equipment such as Transol to eliminate man-in-tank exercises.
Full service
Depot services include tank maintenance, repair and testing utilising the latest equipment. Working to both industry and customer-specific procedures, all sites offer a wide range of specialist services to customers.
Both empty and loaded lifting is possible at the sites and with that, the company is working towards sustainable operations.
Before the end of the year, all equipment at its sites that currently use diesel will be transitioned on to HVO.
This reducing the direct impact on the environment.
There are also plans to upgrade the older cleaning equipment in order that the use of water is minimised, while still providing a very effective tank clean.
A company spokesman said: “A lot has been learned over the past 50 years of operations and nothing is more important than investing in people.
“It is easy to purchase a new boiler or a container lifter, but there is much more engagement required to attract and retain good people.
“The last three years has seen a change in the industry and it has become more difficult to attract people into an industry like tank cleaning.
“The basics of the job remain unchanged, but we can make it easier by adding automated systems and removing admin. The aim is to keep the operational people engaged in their core role.”
Training, clear instructions and a good working environment have been key to retaining the company’s long-standing cleaning and depot services teams across the country.
The spokesman concluded: “While 50 years is a milestone for any company, it is not achievable without commitment, investment and the hard work of all the people within the company.
“With many more innovations and more use of technology, we continue to offer a very flexible and first-class service to customers from around the world. “Our growing infrastructure also puts us in prime locations across the UK for customers who need a one-stop shop.”
