As part of the food logistic chain, the European Federation of Tank Cleaning Organisations (EFTCO) and their assoicated cleaning stations realised as far back as 2013 their responsibility for food safety and food defence. Tank cleanings involved in food and food related transports have to fulfil the high stands of the industry. The Safety and Quality Assessment System (SQAS) for logistics service providers was created 25 years ago by Cefic against the background of a number of serious transport accidents and the need to improve safety standards in the logistics chain, in the spirit of Responsible Care.  In 1992 the first trial SQAS audits of road transport companies were carried out and since then the scheme has... been growing continuously.
