The European Federation of Tank Cleaning Organisations (EFTCO) has announced that KriCon Baltics OÜ Tankcleaning, based in Uusküla, Estonia, has been accepted as a new associated member of the organisation.
Located just one kilometre from the Port of Muuga, Estonia’s largest cargo harbour, KriCon strengthens EFTCO’s presence in the Baltic region and is now authorised to issue the EFTCO Cleaning Document (ECD), the recognised industry standard for documenting professional tank cleaning operations across Europe.
KriCon Baltics has successfully met all of EFTCO’s quality and operational requirements, demonstrating its commitment to safety, efficiency and industry best practice.
The company’s Tallinn depot, established in July 2018, is strategically positioned to serve tank operators travelling to and from the Port of Muuga, providing convenient access to specialist cleaning services.
The depot is equipped with state-of-the-art technology supplied by leading manufacturers in the tank cleaning industry. Many of its cleaning processes are fully automated, minimising manual intervention and helping to achieve the highest standards of operational safety and consistency.
KriCon carries out tank container cleaning at its own facilities, following a structured process that typically includes a pre-wash to remove cargo residues, an interior wash using hot or cold water and approved cleaning agents, rinsing, drying, and a final inspection. The exact cleaning method is determined by both the previous cargo and the product to be loaded next.
All cleaning operations are conducted in accordance with SQAS and EFTCO cleaning codes, as well as food-grade and hazardous materials cleaning protocols where required. Every cleaned tank is issued with a wash certificate detailing the cleaning procedures and agents used, providing full transparency for subsequent cargo owners.
Depending on the cargo previously carried and the cleaning requirements involved, a professional tank cleaning can take between two and 12 hours, with additional procedures available for hazardous or food-grade applications, including gas-free certification where necessary.
